General Store Clerk/Cashier

Responsibilities:

 

Cashier

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Greet customers with good humour and attention
  • Answer phone calls and take phone messages during less busy periods at the cash register
  • Manage cash and payments
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the cash register and surrounding areas

Store Clerk

  • Receipt of goods
  • Filling and maintenance of the grocery and therapeutic departments
  • Shelving of products.
  • Verification of expiry dates
  • Product rotation control
  • Facing
  • Cleaning and disinfection of the store
  • 10% other related tasks

Requirements-:

  • Ready to work day/night or weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Respond to customer inquiries by email and phone
  • Provide the necessary information on the different products
  • Providing secretarial and administrative support services
  • Processing supplier invoices
  • Preparing purchase orders
  • Managing incoming phone calls professionally and redirecting calls to the appropriate person
  • Filing documents according to existing policies
  • Responsible for office supplies inventory
  • Updating the client directory
  • Good organizational, planning and priority management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be bilingual in French and English, written and spoken
  • Ability to organize and maintain files and records, ensuring they remain updated and are easily accessible

Store receiver:

Responsibilities

  • A person who takes accountability to make sure that all merchandise is received, scanned and proper pricing tickets are placed accordingly.
  • Receive incoming store orders quickly and efficiently.  Rotate goods upon receipt.
  • Do a daily cleaning in the fruit and vegetable area.
  • Monitor expiration and sale dates as needed.
  • Ensure that incoming orders match the purchase order – quantities, product, etc.)
  • Check all products received to make sure they are none missing, good quality, with no damages or spoilage. 
  • Responsible for scanning and verifying all received products and verifying against purchase orders/invoices.
  • Maintain accurate product inventory and stock the store accordingly.
  • Responsible to coordinate fellow store clerks to ensure the continuous flow of placing products on the sales floor with direction from our management team.
  • Assists in the training and development of associates as needed.
  • Responds to and directs customers as needed.
  • Assist in the Returns and client reservations.
  • Will be required to contact customers regarding special orders on the occasion.
  • Maintains general cleanliness of receiving area, which may include but is not limited to the garbage and recycling collection/disposal, according to Biotope policy.
  • Ensures that the shelves of the store are well presented.
  • Keep all surfaces, refrigerators, freezers, basements, and reception areas, are always clean and tidy.
  • Alert management/office of any items that are not scanning, unable to receive or have other issues etc.
  • Responsible to check all communications for information (bulletin boards, email, google drive
  •  etc.).
  • Has a complete understanding of all company policies and procedures related to this position,
  • Identifies and communicates suggestions for improvements in the store and surrounding areas.
  • Responsible for the safe and proper use of all store equipment and are required to inform management of any maintenance issues regarding the equipment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in working in a similar field; grocery or receiving goods and/or managing stocks.
  • Punctual
  • Experience in customer service is essential.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and trustworthy.
  • Good communication, courteous.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Able to lift heavy objects minimum of 60 pounds, stand for a long period regularly, do repetitive tasks and work in cool areas.
  • Ability to make decisions related to all aspects of receiving that follow Biotope guidelines.
  • Capacity to work independently and ask questions when needed.
  • Work in constant changing of temperatures.
  • A significant output of physical effort is required through lifting, bending, pulling, twisting, etc.

Posting: Full time - 30-40h

Salary : 15.25$ plus as per experience
